Children

“Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such
belongs the kingdom of God”
(Luke 18:16)

Each Sunday, we provide age - appropriate activities for children from infants through 8 th grade that help them to learn about the Love of God through Bible study, prayer, and Episcopal traditions. We especially enjoy using creative worship experiences to help our children build a lifelong relationship with the hope and life - changing power of Jesus Christ

Nursery

Birth – 3 years old
All children are welcome in church services. We understand that sometimes our youngest members and visitors need room to move, so we have a parlor and a nursery space available for parents to be with their young children. Closed circuit streaming of the worship service is available in these spaces. Ask an usher for help in finding a space if your child needs a break from being in the worship service.

Sunday School

3 years old – 8th Grade
Sunday School classes are held after the 10 am service during the school year. Children from pre-school (age 3) through 8th grade enjoy games, simple crafts, and Christian fellowship in our Sunday School rooms on the lower level. Our lessons come from many Episcopal church resources and help our children to be familiar with the Bible, to empathize with those who struggle in this world, and to marvel at the wonder of God’s creation. Our dedicated teachers know each child by name and delight in their growth in faith.

Worship Ministries

Birth – 8th Grade
One Sunday each month is designated Youth Ministry Sunday. We reserve worship ministries such as acolyting, greeting and ushering, reading scripture, and leading prayers for our children and youth. Youth Ministry Sundays also allow us to incorporate drama (Christmas Pageants and special readings) along with youth preaching opportunities into our services. In the past year services have focused on Blessing Backpacks and Devices for the start of the school year, a dramatic reading of the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, and honoring graduating high school seniors.

Sunday School Outreach

St. John's Sunday School has a long history of focusing on outreach to people in our world who are less fortunate than we are. Our Sunday School students lead collections of summer snacks and fall school supplies for those in transition from homelessness. Several times each year, we provide breakfasts and lunches to a local homeless shelter.
