Patrick D. McCoy

Organist and Choirmaster

A native of Petersburg, VA, Patrick earned the Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Virginia State University and a Master of Music in Church Music from Shenandoah Conservatory. Residing in the Washington, DC area since 2006, he served as Minister of Music at Takoma Park Baptist Church (2006-2012) and as organist and choirmaster at Trinity Episcopal Church (2012-2016). Possessing a myriad of experiences in church music ministry, he served as Director of Music at Covenant Presbyterian Church (2000-2006), The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer and First Christian Church, all in Petersburg.  With Father Constant, he plans music that supports the liturgy and spiritual life in worship. At St. John’s, he provides organ music for all worship services, leads the St. John’s Parish Choir and gives direction to the additional ensembles and lay musicians.  He is a member of the Music Critics Association of North America, The Association of Anglican Musicians, Shenandoah University Conservatory Advisory Board, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity and a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.   Patrick credits all of these accomplishments to God and in loving memory of his mother.
